Thomas Marshall Duncan (March 3, 1949 – May 29, 2026)

Tom was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1949 to parents Roy and Verlyn Duncan

Tom graduated from Bowsher High School in 1967 where he excelled in football, baseball, basketball and track. He was All City Quarterback his senior year and later inducted in the Bowsher Hall of Fame.

Tom continued his football career at the University of Toledo. During the years 1969-1970, he was an integral part of the team that was undefeated for two consecutive seasons. His overall leadership as co-captain in 1970 played a large part in the Rockets wins, which led to completing three consecutive undefeated seasons (35-0) This, second longest winning streak in the history of modern college football, included three consecutive victories in the Tangerine Bowl (now the Citrus Bowl) in Orlando. He was inducted in the University of Toledo Hall of Fame in 1995.

After finishing his senior season, Tom was selected to play in the “Senior Bowl” in Mobile, Alabama (a game for the most highly regarded NFL prospects) where he started and had an interception. Subsequently, he signed as a free agent to play with the Boston Patriots (now the New England Patriots). For two seasons, Tom played for the Patriots Farm/Minor League team.

After his college football years, Tom continued to play flag football in Columbus where he was then living and working.

Tom moved to California for work and enjoyed the west coast living. He was on the west coast for a number of years before moving back to Toledo.

Back in Toledo, Tom continued his love of sports while working at the local sports network, BCSN. He did broadcasting of games on television and radio. At the same time, Tom helped coach freshman football at Northview High School in Sylvania.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving brother, Gary (Sally).

Thank you to Manor of Perrysburg and to Ohio Living Hospice for the care given to Tom as his life passed. A special “ thank you” to his friends and relatives who visited him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
