Sheila Mae Christian was born in Louisville, Kentucky on April 5, 1948, to Carl August and Virginia Augusta (Zettler) Christian.
After graduating from high school, she served in a volunteer program through the United Church of Christ in Biloxi, Mississippi for a year. The following year and a half were spent serving in VISTA in Denver, Colorado. Her dream growing up was to live in Hawaii and attend the University of Hawaii, so she moved there from Denver in 1969. She completed 3 years of college.
In 1976, she married Geoffrey S. Nathan in Hawaii. They lived in Missoula, Montana for a year, then returned to Honolulu. In 1980, she married David M. Knight who worked as an independent contractor for nuclear power plants across the country. They lived in at least 11 different states before David’s death in 2015. Sheila then moved to Toledo, Ohio to be near her sister, Donna Christian Rehfeldt, who survives her.
Sheila passed away on October 14, 2025. There will be no services.
