Sandra Kaye Taylor-Brownfield, affectionately known as “Sandy” by family and friends, passed away peacefully after a life filled with love, service, and adventure.

Born June 7, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, to Joseph and Ethel Cothern (both deceased), she was also preceded in death by her brother, James Cothern, and second husband, Eugene Brownfield. Sandy is survived by her brother, Joseph Cothern, sons Michael (Cody Javonillo) and Jeffrey Taylor (Donna Geis), granddaughter Kaitlyn Clegg (Ridge Clegg), and her two great-granddaughters, Khloe and Kamryn, many cousins — including her closest cousin, Judy Moore (Hahnlen), and her first husband, Harlan (Bud) Taylor.

Sandy was a proud graduate of DeVilbiss High School (Class of 1962) and a trained registered nurse from Owens Community College of Ohio. She devoted over 30 years to delivering compassionate care at Toledo Hospital and later at Henry County Hospital. Her kindness, patience, and healing spirit left a deep and enduring impact on all those she cared for. In 1992, Sandy participated in the Hurricane Andrew relief effort in Florida.

Her passions went far beyond her profession. In her youth, she was a Rainbow Girl and a member of the Eastern Star. She was always present in her children’s lives — serving as awards chairperson for their Cub Scout and Webelos troops, scorekeeping Little League games, and chaperoning school camping trips. She was a constant source of support, warmth, and love.

She delighted in her growing family, a constant joy in her life, and enjoyed traveling, especially exploring the American landscape with them. Her favorite destination was Disney World and Epcot Center. Among her greatest adventures were trips to the Grand Canyon, the Grand Tetons, Hawaii, Australia, and many cruises — a beloved way to vacation.

A woman of faith, Sandy was a member of Grace Community Church. Sandy leaves behind a rich legacy of kindness, compassion, and generosity — a reflection of a life well-lived and a heart that made a profound difference in the lives of many. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 2-8 PM at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave., where funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3rd at 11:30 AM. Interment will be private.
