Patricia S. Yurysta, 77, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Toledo Hospital after a yearlong battle with cancer.

She was born in Richmond, IN on June 20, 1948 to the late Vernon and Martha Brann. She is survived by her husband Thomas, with whom she shared 51 years of loving marriage; her children Sarah (Eric) and Thomas (Antonia); and her grandsons Beckett and Luca. She was very close to her children and grandsons and will be deeply missed.

Patricia met her husband at Purdue University where they both attended in pursuit of their Master’s Degrees. Following their marriage in 1974, they moved to Toledo and then to Maumee where they spent the last 49 years.

Patricia was an elementary school teacher for 30 years. Most of her career was spent teaching for the City of Maumee Schools, though she also taught in the City of Toledo and in New Castle, Indiana at the beginning of her career. Her passion was singing in her church choir. She was also an avid walker, often walking 3 miles a day with her best friend of 51 years Jane Hansen. She loved traveling with her husband and being with family. She also enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles in her spare time.

A celebration of life service will be held at Church of Saint Andrew United Methodist Church, 3620 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH on Tuesday, February 17 at 11:00 am. Viewing will be at the church before the service from 10:00 - 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Church of Saint Andrew for their church choir.
