Michael William Shipman

Michael William Shipman, 79, of Toledo, OH suddenly passed away Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025, at his home with family. He was born on October 29th, 1945, in Toledo, OH to John and Florence Shipman.

He started working in 1966 at Toledo Steel as a steel worker and continued working in the steel industry for 29 years prior to retiring from Alro Steel in 1995. Michael loved spending his time camping, enjoying lake life, sitting by the fire, playing cards with friends and family, and taking family vacations to the casinos. He was most known for his dry sense of humor, dependability, and sweet tooth. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Michael leaves behind his loving wife Nancy Shipman of 59 years, remaining surviving sibling Daniel (Sue) Shipman, daughters Colleen (Mark) Oxenham, Kim (Bret) Wells, grandchildren Jessica (Jason) Stokes, Jordan (Derick) Mckown, Matthew Wells, Logan (Caitlan) Wells, Taylor (Riley) Kidd, Alex Matzinger, Brianne (Brandon) Oxenham and great grandchildren Zachary Stokes, Madelyn Stokes, and Zavier Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Florence Shipman, siblings Patricia Krauss, Geraldine Loshbough, Charles Shipman, John Shipman, Francis Shipman and great granddaughter Brooklynn Mckown.

Family and friends may visit Walters Funeral home on Glendale Ave. September 15th, 2025, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm with memorial service to follow. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Heartland Hospice.
