Marian Helen Holt, age 96, passed away on April 16, 2026, surrounded by her children
at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo after a short illness. She was preceded in death
by her parents Alfred and Freda Klosterhaus, her sister Lois Riley, her husband
Richard, and her son Steven. She is survived by her children Dennis (Barbara), Darrell
(Karen), and Diane Pfaff, and her grandchildren Benjamin, Sean, Kimberly (Jerome),
Andrew (Raelynn), Gregory, Alan, and Jennifer (Nicholas), and her great grandchildren
Anthony, Elizabeth, Emily, Landon, Liam, Logan, Oscar, and Harriet.
Marian was born October 18, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from Libbey High
School in 1947. She married her love Richard on October 30, 1948. Marian worked at
the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities office at Larc Lane from 1973 to
1995 starting as a temporary bus driver to ending her career as the Transportation
Specialist.
Marian and Richard were longtime members of the Tanglewood Golf Club, and Marian
continued to be an avid golfer until the age of 95 when she finally hung up her clubs.
Marian was also an avid bowler; she was involved in many leagues throughout her life,
including a senior’s league until age 94. She enjoyed going on golfing vacations
throughout her life, particularly trips to Jekyll Island, Georgia, with her husband while he
was alive and with her daughter Diane later in life.
Marian was a woman full of grace, compassion, and kindness. She always believed in
being kind and in seeing the best in all people. She sought to live without prejudice. She
believed in our responsibility to care for one another, and lived this by volunteering in
her church food pantry and clothes closet. She was an inspiring example for all who
knew her, including her children, who valued her strength, curiosity and love for all, her
grandchildren, who deeply admired her steadfastness, and her fellow church members
and friends who, even as adults, joked that they wanted to be just like her when they
grow up.
