Lila Cook

Lila “Jiggs” Cook passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Kingston Care Center, of Sylvania.

Lila was born on November 16, 1924 in Bee Branch, Arkansas and moved to Toledo in 1946. Once in Toledo

she worked at Tiedtkes and the Rossford Ordinance.

She met the love of her life, Ryland Cook, on a blind date. They married on November 29, 1947 and were married for 65 years until his passing.

Lila loved to cook and bake pastries. She was a wonderful cook and you couldn’t ask for a more beautiful presentation. Her pies compared to any professional. She loved baking at Christmas time. Lila was very proud of her art.

Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Ryland; her siblings, RL Prescott, William Prescott, Donald Prescott and Billy Joe Prescott. Also preceding in death are sisters, Mary Madalyn Prescott Graham and Evelyn.

She is survived by her children: Donald David (Sharon) Cook, and their children John (Jade) Cook, Matt (Ashley) Cook, Alyssa Cook and Mary Cook; Pamela (Terry) Strayer, and their children Stephanie (Jason) Beckner and Jeffery (Nicole Zeigler, fiancé) Strayer; eleven great-grandchldren; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, on Monday, January 22nd, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Her funeral service will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
