Kay Joan (Snyder) Ottney, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the Vitas Inpatient Hospice Care at Lee Memorial Hospital, Fort Myers, Florida. Kay was born in Luckey, Ohio on August 20, 1931 to Lester and Rhetta (Myers) Snyder.

She graduated from Waite High School in 1949, where she was a member of themarching band and a majorette. She graduated from Davis Business College in 1951.

Kay worked for Libbey-Owens-Ford, Local #9 Glassworkers Union for 16 years; Medical College of Ohio (now known as University of Toledo Medical Center) for 20 years, retiring in 1996.

Kay married Jesse Ottney on September 19, 1964 at Memorial United Church of Christ, Starr Ave., Toledo, OH. They had three children, one daughter living (Lisa Marie) and one boy who died one day after birth and one boy was stillborn. They lived in Toledo until 2008 at which time they moved to Cape Coral, Florida.

She and her husband love boating, traveling and going out with friends. The gals of the Waite High School Class of 1949 meet for lunch on a regular basis and Kay enjoyed visiting with her classmates. She remained best friends with one of her high school classmates (Betty Estrel White) and they cruise every year together. She also has remained close to Donna Burgermeister Fair and several other gals she was in the highschool band with. "Doing lunch" was her favorite activity! She was an avid reader.  Kay is a member of the Triune Chapter, Order of the Eastern Stars, first becoming a member of Lotus Chapter in 1951, than transferring to Triune Chapter in 1981 until present. She was a long-time member of Electa's Daughters, Lotus Chapter and still enjoys the friendship of many of the club's past members. She is also a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine and the Ladies Auxiliary of the 14th Ward Old Time Ballplayers Association.

She is survived by her husband, of 62 years, Jesse Ottney, and the pride and joy of her life her daughter Lisa Marie, of Columbus, Ohio and her two grandsons Cagney (Gail) Seay and Austin (Amanda) Seay and great-granddaughter Lilah. She was very proud of the loving, caring, and fine men her grandsons have become.

Kay was preceded in death by her 2 infant sons; her parents, Lester and Rhetta Snyder.

A visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, on Thursday, February 26th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Yondota Chapter #317, Order of Eastern Stars, will have a memorial service Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday morning 10:00 a.m. until noon, followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey, Ohio.
