Judith Ann (Phillipson) Metzger

Judith Ann Metzger, age 83, passed away May 14, 2026 from a number of Illnesses. Judy was born in Steubenville, Ohio on February 17, 1943 to George and Ella (Butler) Phillipson. The family moved to Toledo where she attended Arlington Elementary School, where her mother taught, and then graduated from Libbey High School.

She then became a Licensed Practical Nurse, working in surgery at The Toledo Hospital, 10+ years at Toledo OB-GYN, and 15+ years at the Medical College of Ohio. While at Libbey High School she met her life-long love and partner, Dick Metzger, and they were married for 62 wonderful years together. They raised two great sons, Christopher and Michael.

Judy enjoyed family get-togehers, pool time with her grandkids, reading, gardening, dining out and spending time with special friends, and special visits for lunch and coffee along the Maumee River at Side Cut Park.

Judy was preceded in death by her mother, cousins, and in-laws Floyd and Edna Metzger. She is survived by her husband, sons Chris (Shelley LaConey) and Mike (Kristin) Metzger, grandchildren James, Grace and Hannah, Debbie and Kathy, and very special friend Sandy Fisher.

Per Judy’s request, there will be no funeral services as she has chosen to be cremated. A private memorial service and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Maumee at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes any donations be made to Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice of Toledo.
