John G. Perkins

John G. Perkins, age 90, of Toledo passed away at his home on December 27, 2017. He was born on a farm outside Whitehouse, Ohio to Fred and Mabel Perkins on December 31, 1926. A graduate of Grand Rapids High School, he joined the US Army Air Forces late in World War II. After a brief break in the private sector he joined what was now the US Air Force, for a total service of 20 years, stationed in Japan and Korea during the Korean War and other locations later, such as Goose Bay, Labrador and Homestead AFB, Florida. After retiring from the US Air Force in 1967, he was employed by the US Postal Service for over 20 years. He is survived by his sons George, Eden, and Carl Perkins, his granddaughters Gretchen Perkins and Alexandra Ferguson, and his sister Mary Ann Kessler. There will be a short memorial service at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 3:00 pm. No flowers or other donations will be necessary.
