Gretchen M. Modlin

Gretchen Modlin, age 97, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2022, at Hospice NWO, Toledo. She was born on February 28, 1924 to Frank and Ella Herget in Toledo, Ohio. Gretchen graduated from DeVillbiss High School in 1942. After which she was employed at the Toledo Auto Lite Co., in the office, and later at the Ohio Fuel Gas Co., in downtown Toledo. Gretchen was married to Richard Modlin on January 12, 1946. They were married for 57 years, until his death in 2002. She volunteered at many places including the Medical College of Ohio Hospital; St. Luke’s Hospital; the Wolcott House in Maumee; and the Maumee Senior Center. Gretchen and Richard spent many winters at their home in Bradenton, FL, where they enjoyed many friendships. She was an artist and took pleasure in crafts; sewing and antique collecting. Gretchen was a member of Church of St. Andrew UMC, on Colony Dr. Toledo, Ohio.
