IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David E.
Humason
November 8, 1934 – February 11, 2026
David E. Humason was born November 8th, 1934, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Harry and Marie Humason. He passed away on February 11th, 2026, after a life defined by service, generosity, humor, and deep devotion to family and friends.
Dave attended Kent State University, where he met his wife Rayna, who preceded him in death. With one semester of coursework remaining, he enlisted in the Army so they could graduate together. After serving in Germany as a Private First Class, he returned home; together they graduated on the morning of June 7th, 1958, and were married that same day, beginning a partnership grounded in love and shared purpose.
Dave and Rayna raised five children: Paul (Sue), Jean (Dave Adams), Eric (Sheri), Stuart (Dina), and Jeff (Nicole). He was a proud grandfather to Andrea, Amanda, Nick, Evan, Rachel, Aspen, Jessica, Emily, Sarah, Julia, James, Gabe, Mike, Luke, John, Maria, Elizabeth, Rayna, and Gianna, and great-grandfather to eleven.
He devoted his career to the YMCA, serving in North Canton and later leading three branches in the Toledo area. He believed in showing up – for youth, families, colleagues, and community. In retirement, he proudly embraced his favorite role: “Grandfather-on-Call.”
Most mornings found Dave before dawn at Swan Creek Metropark with the “Day Breakers,” logging miles and friendships. He had a great sense of humor and was often the instigator of great shenanigans. Both in his career, and with family and friends, Dave led “a significantly meaningful life.”
His life reflected a steady faith expressed through love, fellowship, service, and time spent in nature. We carry forward his humor, his steadiness, and the many ways he made life better for those around him.
