Carolyn A. Gray, born April 5th 1947, of Toledo Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025 at age 78, at the Toledo Hospital, after a courageous, nearly 8yr long battle with stage 4 lung cancer.
Born in Toledo, to Dorothy (Zoltanski) and Steve Kniolek, Carolyn lived a life full of dedication, love and resilience. She met the love of her life, Norman Gray, in high school and has shared many happy memories with him for the last 65 years. She spent 23 years working at Ameritech/Ohio bell as a district manager where she was known for her leadership and commitment. In her 40’s Carolyn returned to school, graduating with honors from Owens Community college as a Physical Therapy assistant- a career she embraced at St Luke’s Hospital for the next 14 years, helping countless patients with care and compassion. She found much joy in helping the elderly with pool therapy.
Carolyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran church and found faith, love and comfort in God during her battle with cancer. She found deep joy in cooking, filing her home with delicious meals and the warmth of family gatherings. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, she delighted in spending time with them every day, creating memories they will cherish forever.
During her cancer journey, Carolyn became a familiar face at the Victory center where she found comfort, support and friendship. An avid reader she also discovered a love for diamond art in recent years, creating many beautiful pieces that now grace the homes of her loved ones.
Carolyn is survived by her beloved Husband of 57 years Norman Gray, Son Matt( Lisa) Gray, Daughter Julie ( David) Buck: her grandchildren Avery and Ethan Gray, Ethan Vanbuskirk, Bracken, Ashton, Declan and Emmalyn Buck; her brother in law Jim Johnson, Jeff (Linda ) Gray and Sister in law Sue (Butch ) Moss and her grand-dog Tank. She was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Steve Kniolek, In laws Walter and Catherine Gray, her sister Cynthia Johnson, numerous Zoltanski family members and many other aunts and uncles.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Sunday June 1st from 2-7pm at Walter Funeral home. A funeral service will be held Monday June 2nd at 11am at Walter Funeral home followed by burial at Toledo memorial Park. A luncheon will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Victory Center, whose comfort meant so much to Carolyn during her fight, or to the family to assist with final expenses.
Carolyn’s strength, love and joyful spirit will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
