Obituary for Judy Ann Hischka

Judy Ann Hischka

“Grief is the price we pay for love.” Which is evident with amount of people sharing our grief in the loss of our beloved Judy Hischka. We would like to thank all the people who have graciously given back the love and support Judy has shown to so many by helping our family during our time of mourning. Judy was born February 8th 1940 in Hamilton, Ohio to Jessie Sims, and the age of 3 she was adopted by Ernest and Alice Wintersteen. Judy was married to her high school sweetheart and the love of her of life, Carl Hischka for 61 years. She graduated from nursing school and worked as a nurse for 25 years and retired from Mercy Hospital. Her selflessness of caring for others continued in taking care of her son, David who suffered with the rare disease, FOP for his 48 years until David’s passing September 6th 2006. Judy was also preceded in death by her second son Kevin and daughter-in-law Julie Hischka.
Judy has overcome many struggles and hardships throughout her 78 years of life but never failed to keep a smile on which was a staple for those who knew her. A devoted believer, mother, grandmother and wife, she always stayed strong for her family and provided a timeless example of faith and forgiveness for those survived by her.
Judy is survived by her husband Carl Hischka, her daughter Julie Hischka, and three sisters, Louise Vaughn, Mable Parker and Valerie Robinson. Judy has three loving grandchildren Brittany, Courtney and Austin Hischka. In addition, sister- in-law Carol Thompson with also including Judy’s nieces and nephews. A close friend, Duane Shively who Judy considered her “third son.” As well as life-long friend June Ford whom Judy considered a sister and consistent aid to the family.
Judy touched so may lives in her time here on Earth. Whether it was family, friends, or patients, she had such a profound impact on anyone who was lucky enough to come in contact with her. We will remember her smile, her laugh, her calming warmth, her enduring love, and endless compassion she put out into the world every day. We invite you to join us and celebrate the beautiful life and soul of Judy Hischka.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of NOW, for their comforting care and support. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3rd at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. "Request from Rainbow Bridge"
by Constance Jenkins

Weep not for me though I
am gone
Into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not
for long
Upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul's
at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was
so blessed
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I
suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of
your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight
for breath
Remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon
my death,
But celebrate my life.
